Colourful Yunnan Chatswood

Colourful Yunnan is a well-known Chinese restaurant brand founded in Victoria, with a reputation built over more than 10 years of operation. The brand has successfully expanded across Australia, and this project marks the opening of its sixth store nationwide and its first location in Sydney, NSW.

s2dio-X has been appointed to design and document the new 300m² Yunnan cuisine restaurant in Chatswood. Notably, the client has dedicated 30% of the site area to the kitchen, ensuring high-quality food preparation and operational efficiency remain at the core of the dining experience.

The design concept — “The White Peacock Under Sunlight” — is intended to deliver a space that feels both sacred and elegant, blending cultural symbolism with contemporary architectural design. Through unique detailing, materiality, and spatial planning, the restaurant aims to create a refined yet welcoming environment that reflects the authenticity and vibrancy of Yunnan cuisine.
