J&G Fried Chicken

Founded in 1973 on Jiguang Street in Taichung, Taiwan, J&G Fried Chicken brings its iconic street-food heritage to Melbourne with its first Australian flagship store located within the RMIT precinct.

The design reinterprets the brand through a contemporary retail environment tailored to Melbourne’s vibrant university culture. Inspired by J&G’s energetic and welcoming identity, the space combines bold orange accents, illuminated feature elements, and clean architectural lines to create a lively yet comfortable dining experience.

Designed with a focus on visibility, efficiency, and customer engagement, the open kitchen and compact layout encourage interaction while delivering a strong street presence both day and night. The result is a modern interpretation of Taiwanese street-food culture within an approachable and youthful setting.
