Master Lanzhou Melb Connect

2dio-X was appointed as Architect for Master Lanzhou’s new tenancy within the Melbourne Connect Building. The design concept is derived from two core ideas embedded in the brand name—“Master” (Kungfu) and “Noodle”—and explores their relationship through a contemporary spatial interpretation that remains grounded in tradition.

The interior is conceived as modern in expression yet respectful of cultural references, translating the discipline, craft, and precision of Kungfu into clear lines, controlled composition, and purposeful detailing. In parallel, the notion of noodles—an everyday staple elevated through technique—is reflected through warmth, material tactility, and moments of focused theatricality within the dining experience. The intent is to create a memorable association: as Kungfu evokes the image of a “master,” the space encourages guests to think of noodles—and, in turn, Master Lanzhou—as the embodiment of that mastery
